Solo Woman Camper Gift Guide 2021

Looking for a gift for a woman who loves to camp, especially solo? I created a Solo Woman Camper Gift Guide based on things that I love. I own and use all these things (with the exception of the Garmin) when I am traveling.  These are gifts I think my fellow solo women RVers, campers and hikers would love to receive.

For the pet lover:

Waggle
Waggle App on my Phone

If you travel with a pet, you know their safety is a top priority. RVs and vehicles heat up quickly and it’s important to ensure your traveling companion does not get over-heated. For my peace of mind, I use a Waggle temperature monitoring device. It sends me an alert on my cell phone (cell coverage required for this to work) when the temperature inside reaches a level I preset. I can also set it to send an alert when my RV loses power. You can also check to see the current temperature inside your rig via the app on your phone. This was such a peace of mind for me when I was at the Sisters Folk Festival and Tucker was inside my van while I was off volunteering. I’d highly recommend the Waggle for anyone who travels with a pet.

For More Off-Grid Time:

This is the Jackery I have, but they come in different sizes depending on your power needs

I love to camp in off-grid places without hookups. But I still like to have my phone, laptop and other devices charged up. My RV has house batteries, but I like the extra power that comes from this Jackery portable lithium battery and solar panels. It even keeps my Waggle charged when I’m off-grid. I can charge the battery with solar panels, via my cigarette lighter while I’m driving or plug it in when I have shore power. It’s super lightweight and small.  A perfect gift for an RV, van or tent camper.

To Light up Their Dark Nights

Solar powered Luci Lantern

If there is one thing I use in my RV every single day, it’s these solar powered lights. They sit in my window all day charging and at night I have plenty of light for reading. They’re super light weight, inflatable and last for hours. Luci lights are my go-to gift for friends who like to camp.

For More Unique Camping Experiences

The Dyrt

I use a few different apps when camping, but two I use the most are The Dyrt Pro and Harvest Hosts.

The Dyrt is a great app that sources campground reviews, photos and videos from users. It’s my go-to source to check out campgrounds that I haven’t been to before. There’s a free version, but I recently upgraded to the paid, where I have access to data and maps offline. This is a game changer for me, when I’m at a campsite with no cell service, I can still plan where I’m going to go next.

Harvest Hosts is great for alternatives to campgrounds

Harvest Hosts is a paid membership that allows you to camp (you must be in a fully self-contained vehicle—so no tents) at wineries, farms, museums, brewpubs and more. For an additional fee, you can add golf courses, as well. I’ve loved my Harvest Host membership and I’ve stayed at some pretty cool places. Gorgeous vineyards, a lavender farm, a cheese factory and stunning golf courses. You’re expected to spend a bit at the business and most places allow a one-night stay, so it’s great when you’re on the move.

For Peace of Mind

Garmin InReach is great for emergencies

If you’re concerned about your loved one traveling solo in places with no cell coverage, then a Garmin In Reach might be the perfect gift for your peace of mind. With the Garmin, they can send out brief messages to friends and family (depending on which plan you choose) and can send out an SOS signal if they’re really in trouble.

For Adventurer and Hiker

Darn Tough Socks are my Favorite

Socks are so important for any kind of outdoor adventurer. And there are no better socks than these Darn Tough hikers. Made in Vermont, these socks are the most comfortable. I’m slowly replacing all of my worn out socks with Darn Tough socks, so if you’re looking to get me a gift, here’s your hint of what I’d like.

For the Reader

There’s nothing like a good book when you’re out on the road. But who has room to carry around a lot of books? That’s why a Kindle Paperwhite is the perfect gift for any RV traveler or camper. This version is water proof and has a backlight, so they can read outside in the dark on a rainy night if they want. Preload it with a few books. Might I recommend these written by recent podcast guests.

  • Vanlife: Exploring the Northwest with two dogs, a cat, and a van!

For the RV Cook

Dash Mini Toaster Over

I don’t have an oven in my RV and it’s the one kitchen item that I miss. I recently found out about these tiny toasters and I’m so excited to really try mine out on the road. I’ve only tried it out at home thus far. It’s big enough for one piece of toast, a slice of pizza or a couple of cookies. Perfect for the solo traveler: Dash mini toaster oven.

For Anyone who Eats:

Full Windsor Utensils

Whether you’re an RVer, back packer, picnic-er or simply someone who wants to save the environment and hates plastic forks, check out these magnetic utensils. I won a set of these in a contest and I didn’t know how much I would love them, until I used them. Now I have a set in my van and love to eat my cereal with the orange spoon and carry a rainbow set with me wherever I go: Full Windsor magnetic utensils.

For the Music Lover

Small can be mighty with the Bose

Years ago I ditched all my stereo equipment and downsized to a tiny Bose speaker. The sound is amazing and I can take it anywhere. I use it in my home and it’s also perfect for the RV. It holds a charge for quite a few hours of podcast, audio book listening or dancing. Mine is an older version. These new ones are water proof and perfect for camping.

So there you have it, my list of camping gifts for women. Share your thoughts? What is one thing you’d like to receive as a gift this holiday season?
