Solo RV Life and Mental Health Healing
My guest this week on the Solo Women RV podcast, has perhaps one of the most powerful stories I’ve shared on this podcast. Angie Peacock is a military veteran who suffered a lot of trauma from her time in service. Solo RV life (and a lot of other things) is helping her heal from mental health challenges and the effects of being on medications for all of her mental health diagnosis.
Like a lot of people struggling with mental health issues, Angie sought out medical help and was prescribed psychiatric medications. The drugs helped for a while, but after years on the medication, Angie suspected they were doing more harm to her than good. She began the process of healing herself again—and a big part of her story is moving into an RV and traveling full-time. She’s got some really powerful things to share and I love her RV road magic!
Key Take-Aways:
1. It takes courage to make big changes.
2. On the other side of fear is freedom
3. If you have mental health issues and you want to hit the road, it’s possible. Just make sure that you have a plan for when you inevitably hit a rough spot.
4. Give it time. Especially if you’re healing from trauma or some other thing, it will take time to get into your groove on the road.
5. Look for moments of magic. Angie calls them RV Road magic. Look for places where you can create moments of magic for others.
6. If you’re worried about the steep learning curve to Solo RV life, take a class like those offered for new RVers.
